CALICI and Uiseong County Sign MOU to Advance the Cell Culture Industry

Uiseong County(Daegu Region) and CALICI Sign MOU to Foster Cell Culture Industry and Develop New Natural-Product Materials

Uiseong County and CALICI have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen the local cell culture industry and collaborate on the development of new substances for food and pharmaceuticals based on natural products.

Under the agreement, CALICI will leverage its expertise in computer simulations and natural product research to jointly develop high-value functional materials with Uiseong County and promote strategies for their industrial application. The collaboration will extend beyond R&D to include clinical feasibility assessments, quality control, and commercialization support.

As a specialized partner of Yeungnam University’s Cell Culture Research Institute, CALICI provides an open research platform, Pharmaco-Net®, offering big data resources, AI-powered analysis, and research collaboration tools to accelerate drug discovery and new material development.

Both parties plan to continue working together to advance Uiseong’s cell culture industry, expand global market opportunities, and build commercialization models that contribute to the regional bioeconomy. The partnership is expected to play a key role in driving innovation in natural product–based biopharmaceuticals while supporting local economic growth.
